A vertical platform lift is a small elevator for the steps outside your door.

Roll on at the bottom, press a button, and the platform carries you, your wheelchair or your scooter smoothly up to the porch, deck or entry. It takes a fraction of the space of a ramp, works for wheelchairs and walkers alike, and can be installed indoors or out, at home or at your business.

A ramp needs a foot of length for every inch you climb.

The ADA standard for a wheelchair ramp is a slope of no more than 1 inch of rise for every 12 inches of run. Here is how much ramp a typical porch would need, compared with the footprint of a porch lift.

  • 4 ftA porch lift. A 36″ by 48″ platform, at any height it serves
  • 24 ftRamp for a 24″ rise. About three or four steps
  • 53 ftRamp for a 53″ rise. The reach of a Bruno VPL-3153
  • 75 ftRamp for a 75″ rise. The reach of a Bruno VPL-3175

Ramp lengths exclude the level landings a long ramp also requires.
